    Description

    RF Beacon ROCKWELL B7 +
Beacon ROCKWELL B7 + is a tiny (less than 1.5 grams in weight) radiofrequency SRD class unit, which can be found within a few kilometers * via regular radio set listening to its signal. Connecting the GPS receiver unit to this RF beacon makes possible realtime position tracking on the screen of your smartphone or tablet.
B7 + RF beacon broadcasts a group of 5 sound tones with gradually decreasing power (and different tone). The most powerful (the first) tone can be heard at a distance of more than 5 kilometers. The weakest - at a distance of 20-50 meters. The louder tones heard of the radio set, the closeer RF beacon is to you. At the same time you can use the signal strength indicator (RSSI), if available in your radio set.
    Handheld radio
    is not included
with the RF beacon set and must be purchased separately. To use this radio beacon the radio station suitable range is 430-470 MHz (including LPD, PMR, FRS, GMRS), such as for example: Kenwood, Motorola, Midland, Voxtel, HYT, ICOM, YAESU, BaoFeng UV-5R, UV- B6, BF-888S, TG-UV2, Wouxun KG-UVD1P and so on. Before you buy be sure to check the frequency range of your future radio station.
At the close rance near RF beacon (when all the tones are heard consistently) to find the beacon with an accuracy of 30-40 cm will feature "Callback". How does it work? When you hear different tonal sound tones from your radio, without waiting for the sound tones to end, click on the radio transmit button and hold it for 3-4 seconds. In response, the RF beacon will give the desired broadcast audio signals, thus prompting you how well he hears radio. The fewer signals RF beacon will give, the closer it is.
You can download full manual ( only on Russian ) here http://www.iruntheflight.com/manual/b7+_ru.pdf
The position of the RF beacon on the map
To display the position of the RF beacon on the map using the iPhone or Android gadget. Run the program
    HAB Modem and Tracker
and bring the smartphone to the of the radio set at the time when the beacon sends your coordinates, altitude, speed - you will see where the RF beacon is. Owners of Android phones can broadcast the location (and flight track) on the map on the Internet (through the service http://tracker.habhub.org/) for joint surveillance or search operations. See chapter "Setting up software on the smartphone" Full instructions available on the link below. If you do not have a smartphone - you still may receive coordinates of the beacon manually using Morse code. For operating with positioning coordinates onboard nmea GPS receiver is essential (including a part of the autopilot or OSD), easy to connect following B7 + RF beacon user manual.
    Quick start
    1) Power supply: RF beacon can be connected to the power supply of the receiver or the RC-BEC voltage of 5 or 6 volts (as on photo), or you can use LiPo or LiFe battery, as well as you can connect them both (in this case the battery starts to work only when the main power dissapears).
    2) Initialization: after you bought a brand new RF beacon B7+ it's essential to set it to work with your radio. To do this, turn on the radio set on the free from other users of the channel or frequency. Press and hold down the button on the RF beacon, apply power to the beacon, without releasing the button. Wait until the LED lights up at the beacon (not to be confused with a blinking!), And then at a distance of 20-40 cm from the beacon, press the transmit button on the radio and do not let up until the LED goes out. (This procedure is necessary only once, subsequently the beacon remembers tuned channel). Releasing the button on the radio set you will hear iridescent tone, telling the successful setup. You can now release the Beacon button.
    3) Operation: the RF beacon now memorized frequency (channel) of your handheld radios and already started working. Now it transmits search tones every 10 seconds (the LED lights on for 2 seconds and then go from one to three short bursts, showing the state of the battery), the coordinates of GPS (if it is connected) every 45 seconds (this LED flashes rapidly for 15 seconds). In this mode, it will work as long as power supply allows taking ~1mA.
    Repeater
The "Repeater" will quickly find the lost RF beacon on a vast area (tens or even hundreds of square kilometers) with another of the same beacon mounted on a model airplane, or drone. Just turn on the option "repeater", attach a beacon to the drone and run it. Now, when the beacon relay will hear any other beacon Rockwell B7 +, it will supply the signal to you on the radio set (and you'll see the searched beacon on a map of the smartphone). You'll hear your beacon relay to 10-15 km in the air, and it can hear the lost beacon from a distance of 3-4 km.
The principal difference from analogues of other manufacturers are - mechanical strength, durability, impact resistance and moisture resistance, as well as remote control of the beacon with a free RC receiver channel.
    * In the line of sight between the antennas. At maximum range search capabilities are very strongly influenced by the following local conditions: the elevation of the beacon above the ground, the terrain, the level of interference, the humidity of the earth, the height and density of vegetation.
