Description
Large Antique Stag Sheffield Pocket Knife Folding Dirk Knife For Parts- 10” Open.Up for bid is a very old and rare stag Sheffield made folding pocket knife. This knife was made in the 1800s. This knife is very large at 5.5” inches closed and 10” inches open.
The stag handles are very beautiful with deep grooves and a great look. This knife is suited well for a parts knife as the blade has been replaced at some point. The blade opens with decent snap on half and open, on the weak side. There is no snap closed. The blade has wobble up and down but not side to side. As you can see from the pictures, whoever made the blade didn’t do the greatest job, however it does have some snap and is moderately sharp.
This would be a great candidate for a blade replacement, maybe have a custom maker make a new blade or find a period blade to get installed.
The handle covers are pretty nice and visually attractive. There are two pin cracks, one is minor (on the presentation side) and the other is more severe (on the pile side). See pictures.
Overall this is a unique and rare knife, however it is best suited for parts unless you wanted a real user. Knives like this don’t pop up very often as it is pretty large. It would also be a nice knife for display in a collection of old knives.
Please review pictures closely and ask any questions you may have.
