TRADE MARK. The master blade is very wide and full, which was a Remington feature on their R203 and R211 easy openers. Handles are cocobolo with a bowtie shield. Liners are brass and bolsters are nickel silver; this is a barehead knife, so no cap bolsters.
Condition is used - NKCA - Excellent minus. The cocobolo handles are nice but have cracks and chips at the cap end, front and back, but larger on the back. There is a hairline crack on the back handle at the pivot end pin; also, there is a chip missing on the back handle at the easy open notch (reason for adding a minus to the Excellent grading). Blades have shallow pits and scratches. The Remington etch is very strong and shows that the knife has not been cleaned. Master blade is full length and width; pen blade is 97% length and 90% width. Blades have half stop and good snap; the master blade has moderate wobble. Photos are explicitly part of this description.
Remington Arms Co. is best known for their guns, but expanded into edge weapons in 1915 by producing bayonets for the military. In 1919, Remington built new cutlery equipment, tools and dies; they began producing pocket knives in 1920 in their Bridgeport, Conn. factory. Remington sold their cutlery division to Pal Blade Co. in 1940. Remington made a very high quality product that continues to be popular with collectors. The tang stamp on this knife was used by Remington from 1924 to 1933.
